As this newsletter goes to print we are
surrounded by a beautiful snow that brings with
it glistening trees and joyful children. I hope you
have the opportunity to enjoy it.
Last Sunday afternoon forty persons from
Worthington UMC met for our 2010 Vision
Retreat. Together we celebrated this congregation's past and
present and began to build on this rich foundation into a future
vision. By the time you receive this newsletter we will have met
again and brought together the work of many here at WUMC
over the past few years with the work of last Sunday into a
Vision to be shared and hopefully be embraced by this
congregation. As we met many of the wonderful ministries we
are already involved in were lifted up and the desire to enhance
them was expressed. We began to further claim who we believe
we are as God's people.
We will meet again on Sunday, February 28th from noon to
2:30 pm and all are welcome to join in.
Last Saturday morning the Sunday Morning Schedule Study
Team met and began to discuss twenty-seven pages of
comments and statistical results from over 300 respondents to
their survey. The conversation was filled with respect for the
varied viewpoints of all, gratitude that persons were willing to
share and hope that as recommendations are made there will
be understanding that the desires of each person cannot be
met, but that a very serious consideration of the comments of
each person has taken place.
Before you receive this newsletter, the Study Team will have
shared a summary of what they have heard even as they move
toward gaining more feedback to potential recommendations.
Both of the processes mentioned above will be in action
during the Lenten Season, a time when we reflect on our lives
and prepare ourselves to celebrate Christ's Resurrection. Lent is
a good time to consider such things and to seek ways that we
can help others and ourselves to encounter God more deeply
that we might share in Christ's work in even a greater way.
I hope you are participating in our Lenten Study and if not
finding other ways to mark this journey that leads us to the
Easter Celebration.
Thank you for your wonderful ministry. It is good to be with
you.
